    About Mr Henry Colaco

    GMC number: 6079744

    Year qualified: 2003

Place of primary qualification: Imperial College School of Medicine, University of London

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Mr Henry Colaço specialises in sports and reconstructive shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as complex upper limb trauma (including hand and wrist). He has experience in treating high-profile actors, directors, musicians, and professional athletes from international rugby players to UFC fighters.

He takes a patient-centred approach to care, tailoring his treatments (both surgical and non-surgical) to each individual. Where surgery is required, he uses cutting-edge procedures and uses minimally invasive techniques wherever possible to obtain the best outcomes and a faster recovery time. He has particular interests in reconstructive arthroscopic keyhole surgical procedures for the treatment of shoulder instability, biological augmentation for rotator cuff repairs, and 3D planning for joint replacement surgery.

Mr Colaço completed his surgical and orthopaedic training in London after graduating with distinction from Imperial College School of Medicine. He completed two fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery and complex upper limb surgery and was awarded the renowned BESS Travelling Fellowship, which he completed in Paris and Lyon.

He was the Clinical Lead for Upper Limb Surgery at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is the current Surgical Lead for the Sustainability and Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship programme director. He enjoyed 9 years at The Shoulder Practice and 12 years convening The London Shoulder Meeting before creating LONDON SHOULDER. He is widely published, teaches at national and international conferences and is actively involved in clinical research and the use of simulation to train junior surgeons.
